Infants
Our Infant Program cares for children 6 weeks to 15 months of age. Each of our infant rooms has loving teachers who each care primarily for 4 infants in our "Primary Care" environment. "Primary Care" allows each teacher to give consistent, individual attention to each infant. Your primary caregiver will change your infant's diaper, feed your infant and get to know the best way for your infant to relax and sleep. Your infant will be loved and cuddled in a secure environment. You will get to meet your "Primary Caregiver" shortly before you begin with the program.
Our program allows babies to move freely, permitting them to learn about their own world at their own pace. We honor each infant's unique capabilities and do not expect them to do what they are not yet ready to do.
Routines are a natural part of our curriculum and are considered to be quality learning experiences. We always tell the baby what we are going to do before we do it. This practice eventually allows the child to anticipate what is going to happen which leads to their trust in us and in their environment.
We know how crucial the first years of life are in developing basic lifelong patterns of coping, living and learning. Research tells us the most important factor is a child's secure attachment with a warm, responsive caring adult. The first attachment, of course, is to parents, but caregivers must also form attachment with the child. The relationship they build together during routines will serve as an emotional refueling that will empower your child with a sense of trust and security. A prerequisite to all learning is to trust that your needs will be met by a consistent caregiver who knows and understands you.
